About Anahi Hollis

Born in Madrid and raised amidst the vibrant culture of Buenos Aires until age ten, Anahi Hollis’s early experiences sparked a lifelong passion for ceramics, design, and architecture. Beginning ceramics classes at just nine years old, she continued honing her craft through college. One of her instructors described her as “an artist who works with clay” and encouraged her to focus on product design—an encouragement that eventually sparked her interest in furniture design and spatial planning. This passion led her to pursue a degree in interior design at Wayne State University.

In her final year at Wayne State, Anahi gained invaluable hands-on experience interning with the Los Pistoleros design team, collaborating closely with Phillip Cooley and architect Brian Hurttienne. There, she contributed to a variety of projects, including the outdoor patio at Slows Barbeque and an art installation at Vinology in Ann Arbor. Toward the end of her internship, she began working with Susan Heifleigh at Environments and Energy, assisting in the design process for high-end residential and commercial projects, including the Yoga Shelter in Birmingham.

Anahi’s experience expanded further as she worked with Cheryl Nestro at Tutto Interiors, Maha Jano Interiors at the Michigan Design Center, and later with Jennifer Taylor at Jennifer Taylor Studio in Royal Oak from 2009 to 2013. While collaborating on residential and commercial projects with Jennifer Taylor, Anahi’s responsibilities encompassed drafting floor plans, lighting layouts, elevations, tile designs, custom millwork specifications, 3D modeling, furniture design and selection, and fabric sourcing. She also assisted with the interior design of Jennifer Taylor’s up-north dream cabin, which was featured in Detroit Home magazine in the fall of 2014 and earned second place in the ‘Sustainable Home’ category of the 2016 Detroit Home Awards.

In 2015, Anahi partnered with Jenaveve Biernat from Meta Physica Massage to co-found Meta Physica Wellness Center in Corktown, Detroit. That year, Detroit Design Core recognized Anahi with a design award and grant for her new design vision. In 2016, they won the Hatch Detroit grant of $50,000 and won a Motor City Match grant. During the year-long build-out prior to opening, Anahi relocated her office into Meta Physica to complete the design and project manage the details of the construction, all while continuing her own interior design projects. The business opened in fall 2017, and Anahi also developed the raw juice and smoothie menu with assistance from her brother, a formally trained chef.

During her time as co-owner of Meta Physica Wellness Center, Anahi continued to balance and advance her interior design projects. In 2020, while the wellness center was temporarily closed due to COVID-19, she focused even more fully on her design work. In 2021, Anahi decided to leave Meta Physica to dedicate herself exclusively to her interior design business.

Since her time with Meta Physica, Anahi has contributed her design expertise to notable projects such as Ladder 4 Wine Bar in Detroit and the Second Avenue Ballroom in the Masonic Temple. She has also continued her focus on historic home renovations across Detroit neighborhoods including Historic West Canfield, Virginia Park, Woodbridge, Corktown, and West Village. In 2023, Anahi collaborated with Ann Sacks to create a custom tile table for the yearly Table Tops event at the Michigan Design Center.

Today, Anahi brings her distinctive vision and dedication to each project—whether a renovation or new construction—crafting timeless interiors that truly reflect her clients’ lifestyles while honoring the rich history of Detroit’s neighborhoods, as well as projects throughout Metro Detroit and beyond. She looks forward to collaborating with clients who value thoughtful design and craftsmanship to transform their spaces into meaningful, lasting environments.
